Guide

What should you bring to a trackday?

You do not need to bring an entire workshop to a trackday. First make sure your bike and gear are in order and that you have enough fuel, food and drink. Use this packing list to check the rest at your own pace.

01

Your riding gear

Make sure you bring this equipment:

  • A one-piece leather suit, or a leather jacket and trousers joined by a connecting zip.
  • Leather motorcycle gloves that cover your wrists.
  • Motorcycle boots that cover your ankles.
  • An undamaged full-face helmet.

In the beginner group, a slide-resistant textile suit is also allowed. Motorcycle jeans, motorcycle shoes, hoods and open-face helmets are not allowed. Also check the clothing rules for the circuit where you will ride.

A back protector is recommended and may be compulsory at some circuits. Bring base layers and dry clothes for between sessions or afterwards.

02

For your bike and check-in

Before leaving, check that you have or have arranged the following:

  • Your bike key and enough fuel. Check in advance where you can refuel and which rules apply to bringing and storing fuel.
  • A fitted dB killer if you have a modified exhaust.
  • Your motorcycle licence, or your racing licence if you participate without a motorcycle licence.
  • Access to your booking confirmation and participant information, for example on your phone.

Enter your emergency contact details at home and sign the waiver for the correct season. You do not have to wait until you reach the circuit.

03

Useful tools and spares

Basic tools suitable for your bike, tape and zip ties may come in handy. Your own tyre pressure gauge is useful, but the tyre service also has a pump and gauge you can use free of charge.

A paddock stand, tyre warmers and spare parts may be useful depending on your bike and tyres. These are not a standard shopping list for every beginner. If in doubt, ask what your bike needs.

04

Between sessions

Bring enough to drink and eat, and something to sit on. Think of protection from sun or rain, clothes for cooler weather and a charger or power bank for your phone.

Check the participant information for facilities such as food, power, pit boxes and overnight stays. Availability and what you need to arrange can differ by location and event.

05

What is available on site?

There is a tyre service for advice, tyre changes and new tyres. They can also change tyres you bring yourself. Ask in advance about availability if you need a specific tyre.

You may use the pump and gauge free of charge. Need other work on your bike? Ask what is possible and what it costs; repairs and regular work depend on the time available.
